Rtv insulator coating
Flashover occurred repeatedly on almost every tansmission and distribution system of power supply because of the air pollusion, consequently the mass power cut-off occurred, which results in large economic loss and negotive political influence. Here is a brief introduction of the products of RTV insulator coating.
Basic structure unit of RTV is -[-Si--O-]-, what connects with the residual bonds of Si atom are various organic groups. Considered from the structure, it is a high molecular compound with the structure of semi inorganic and semi organic, and it has both characters of organic polymer and inorganic polymer. So it has a lot of specialities in capability, and the most extrusive capability is the fine charecteristic of withstanding high temperature, dielectric, withstanding of aging, physiologically ineria and low interfacial force.
One of the basic conditions that the flashover occured in the insulator is the wetness on the surface. The materials of the porcelain and glass aare hydrophilic, and dirt also absorbs water. Water drop on the surface of these materials will make the electrolytes on the contaminated layer become ionization, and form a conducting water film. It enlarges the electrical conductance on the surface of outer insulators. At last, it results in discharging.
Insulator coated with the coating is formed by such means: painting the coatings which have the capability of hydrophobicity on the surface of porcelain and glass insulators, in order to change capability of the surface of porcelain and glass from hydrophilic to hydrophobicity. Meanwhile, using the capability of outward migration of hydrophobicity and sobbing the dirt of the coating, make the dirty layer of insulator also has the capability of hydrophobicity. When water drops on the surface of these materials, it will not form a water film like drops on the porcelain, but small isolated beads. As a result, the discharging model is formed by many little beads and the band with high electric resistance that connected in series, keeping high electric resistance of dirty layer on the surface of insulator restricts the development of the leakage current, and also prevents flashover on the surface of insulator.
